Terms of service

Rules of the lab.

These terms describe the relationship between Anime Lab and people who use the game, accounts, and optional Premium subscription. Please read them before using the service.

Draft dated October 17, 2026 · Operator location: New York, United States

Pre-launch draft“Anime Lab” is a placeholder operator name. A verified legal name and working contact address must be inserted and the text reviewed for the actual launch jurisdiction before these terms are relied on for production.

1. Agreement and related policies

By accessing or using Anime Lab (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. The Billing and Refunds Policy applies only if a paid plan is offered and you purchase it. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it.

These Terms apply to the website, game, account features, generated life stories, villain campaigns, and related services operated by Anime Lab (“we,” “us,” or “our”). Additional terms presented by Stripe, Google, or other third parties govern your relationship with those parties.

2. Eligibility and accounts

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 must not create an account or use the Service. Users who are 13 through 17 should use it only with a parent or guardian’s permission. The person who purchases a subscription must be at least 18 or the age of majority where they live. If we learn that an under-13 child provided personal information, we will take steps to delete it as required by law.

You may register with a username and password or, when available, sign in through Google. You must provide accurate registration information, keep your credentials confidential, and tell us promptly about unauthorized use. You are responsible for activity on your account except to the extent caused by our own acts or omissions. Do not share, sell, or transfer an account. We may limit or close accounts created through fraud, abuse, or circumvention of access controls.

We do not currently offer automated password reset or self-service account deletion. You can delete saved characters and individual life or fight records from your character archive. See the Privacy Policy for requests concerning other account data. Deleted archive records may not be recoverable.

3. What the Service provides

Anime Lab is an entertainment game. Users draw character cards, build a composite fighter, play villain arcs, and, with Premium, request AI-generated life simulations. Draws, ratings, outcomes, and story events are game mechanics and creative fiction. They are not official statistics, canon, predictions, professional advice, or a promise of any specific result. Features, characters, odds, story quality, and availability may change.

AI-generated text can be inaccurate, repetitive, unexpected, or unsuitable for some users. Generated stories may include conflict, violence, loss, or other mature fictional themes. You should not rely on a generated output for factual, medical, legal, financial, or safety decisions. We may apply technical and content limits to protect the Service and its users.

4. Free launch and future subscriptions

At initial launch, character drafting, life simulations, and all villain arcs are free to play. There is no subscription required or offered through the live game while free-launch mode is active. Life simulations still require a working connection and may be limited by technical capacity or daily usage limits.

We may offer an optional paid plan in the future. If we do, we will display the then-current price, features, renewal and cancellation terms before charging anyone and provide an updated Billing and Refunds Policy. Nothing in these Terms authorizes a charge for the free launch. Users with an earlier test or live Stripe subscription should use the Stripe customer portal or contact the operator to confirm that subscription's status; making the game free does not itself cancel an existing Stripe subscription.

5. Content and intellectual property

Anime Lab’s original code, visual design, balance system, and original text are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You receive a limited, personal, nonexclusive, revocable license to use the Service for its intended entertainment purposes while complying with these Terms. No ownership in the Service is transferred to you.

Anime Lab is an unofficial fan project. Many referenced characters, franchise names, and portraits are owned by third parties. We do not claim ownership of those rights, and the Service is not sponsored, endorsed, or affiliated with the relevant rights holders. Credit, attribution, a disclaimer, or these Terms do not create a license from a rights holder. See Rights and Takedown and portrait credits. Rights holders may request review and removal of material.

You retain whatever rights you have in names or other original material you submit. You grant us a limited license to process, store, display back to you, and transmit that material to service providers as needed to run the game and account history. Do not submit material you lack rights to use, personal information about others, or content that is unlawful. AI outputs may not be unique and may resemble outputs received by other users; we make no promise that you own exclusive rights in them.

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the Service illegally, infringe others’ rights, impersonate anyone, or submit harmful or abusive content;
  • probe, attack, overload, scrape at scale, or interfere with the Service, its accounts, payment flow, security controls, or other users;
  • falsify subscriptions or campaign results, or bypass access checks when applicable, reverse engineer nonpublic systems in violation of applicable law, or resell access without permission;
  • send malware, automated spam, or requests designed to manipulate generated content into exposing secrets or violating others’ rights; or
  • use another person’s payment method or account without authorization.

We may investigate suspected abuse and take proportionate action, including suspending access, removing content, or contacting a payment provider or appropriate authority where legally justified.

7. Availability, changes, and ending access

We may modify, pause, or discontinue features for operational, legal, rights-holder, security, or business reasons. We will try to give reasonable notice of material changes when practical, particularly changes to paid features. We may suspend or terminate an account for a material breach, fraud, security risk, or legal requirement. You may stop using the Service at any time. Ending use does not itself cancel an active Stripe subscription; cancel through Account → Billing.

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version and effective date. For material changes, we will use reasonable means to notify affected users before the change takes effect where required. Continued use after an effective date may mean acceptance, but we will seek affirmative consent where law requires it. If you disagree, stop using the Service and cancel any subscription.

8. Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, error-free stories, particular game outcomes, continued availability of any licensed or unlicensed third-party material, or compatibility with every device. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or warranties that cannot legally be excluded.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Anime Lab and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from the Service. To that same extent, our aggregate liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or $100 USD. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law, including liability that cannot be limited for fraud, intentional misconduct, or consumer-protection obligations.

You agree to indemnify us against third-party claims caused by your unlawful use of the Service or material you submit, but only to the extent permitted by law and not for claims caused by our own wrongdoing. This clause does not take away nonwaivable consumer rights.

9. Disputes and general terms

Before filing a claim, you may contact us and describe the issue so we can try to resolve it informally. These Terms are governed by New York law, excluding conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer laws of your home jurisdiction apply. Courts located in New York will be the forum for disputes where a court forum is permitted and no mandatory rule requires another forum. These Terms do not require arbitration or waive a class action.

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. We may assign these Terms in connection with a legitimate transfer of the Service, subject to applicable law. You may not assign your account without permission. These Terms, together with incorporated policies, are the entire agreement about the Service except for terms that cannot legally be displaced.
